Focused efforts needed for promotion of Telugu: media academy chairman Vijayawada: The preservation and promotion of the Telugu language require more focused efforts, said C.R. Media Academy Chairman Alapati Suresh Kumar at a national seminar held at K.B.N. College. The event, organized jointly by Krishna University, K.B.N. College, and Chennai Telugu Academy, focused on the legacy of Paravastu Chinnaya Suri, a renowned Telugu scholar.

Suresh Kumar emphasized that the current pace of Telugu language protection efforts is inadequate. He pointed out that research suggests primary education should be in the mother tongue, and promoting English at this level is detrimental to the language's growth. He criticized the trend of favoring English over Telugu, stating it undermines the cultural heritage.
He used a poignant metaphor, "Language is like a flowing river; if the flow stops, it becomes lifeless," highlighting the risk of Telugu becoming obsolete if not nurtured. Suresh Kumar urged the audience to support the republication of Suri's classic work, "Niti Chandrika," which has not been reprinted despite its significance.
The chairman also encouraged students to develop a habit of reading at least one Telugu and one English newspaper daily, such as The Hindu, to improve their language skills and stay updated on current affairs.
K.B.N. College Principal Dr. G. Krishnaveni presided over the event, while Chennai Telugu Academy's Managing Trustee Dr. T. Sanjeev Rao, Secretary T. Bhaskar, and other dignitaries participated. The seminar aimed to inspire a renewed commitment to preserving Telugu language and culture.
