FAPCCI adds Telangana to its name Hyderabad, Dec 30 (INN): The industry body FAPCCI has renamed itself and from now on it will be called "Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI).
The decision was taken in the Executive General Body meeting held at Federation House here on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference later, Federation president Shiv Kumar Rungta said that the industry body has been renamed in view of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in June this year.
However, instead of having two separate entities for each State, it has been decided to continue with single organisation by incorporating "Telangana" in its name. He said that the Federation has substantial members from both the States and it would continue to pursue its activities in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
To decentralise and expand its activities, the FTAPCCI has decided to set up its offices in Warangal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Khammam. Similarly, four centres will be set up in Andhra Pradesh in Visakkhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Tirupathi and Vijayawada.
Rungta said that the industries have been playing a major contribution in the economy of both the States. While industry's contribution in Telangana is 26 per cent, in Andhra Pradesh it is 21 per cent. Praising the concept of Single Window Clearance system being proposed by both the States, he said that the proper implementation of the policy would lead to massive industrialisation.
FTAPCCI Vice-President Vennam Anil Reddy said that the both the States should focus on providing adequate power to the industrial sector. He said that the situation was comparatively better compared to previous months.
He said that the industries would be able to sustain even if gets at least 70-80 per cent of required power. The supply was less than 50 per cent during the last four years. He hoped that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh could become power surplus States if they pursue their plans properly.
FTAPCCI Vice President Ravindra Modi and Secretary General S Bhalerao also spoke.
