AP's biggest drive to save 500MW power Hyderabad, Dec 30 (INN): The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to distribute two LED Bulbs to each household for one crore consumers in the State aggregating to about two crore bulbs in the domestic sector.
This project is poised to be the biggest ever such Demand Side Management (DSM) based project in the domestic sector in the whole world. This ultimately is expected to save 500 MW of installed capacity, in addition to the savings in the electricity bills of end consumers.
The distribution of LED Bulbs has already been launched in Guntur district, wherein 12.5 lakh bulbs have already been distributed so far. Efforts are under way to roll out the project to all the Districts of AP, and to complete by the end of Financial Year 2015-16.
As part of achieving this objective, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed that the New Year 2015 may be considered as the Year of Energy Conservation in the State for the benefit of state as well as consumers.
The Chief Minister, in an open letter to the general public, appealed to come forward voluntarily and participate in the energy conservation movement taken up by the state government, for achieving the objectives of longevity of 24X7 power supply, energy security, environmental protection, for the benefits of the posterity etc.,
He stressed the need for implementation of Energy Conservation and Efficiency measures in all major sectors such as Domestic, Industrial, Local Bodies, Water Supply Schemes, Agriculture, Industrial etc. The significance of Energy conservation has to be inculcated from childhood itself.
Towards achieving this goal, topics on Energy conservation have been included in school syllabus also. Apart from taking several steps for enhancing installed capacity in the state and procure more power to meet the future requirements, energy conservation is also very important and accorded top priority in the day to day life.
Reducing the consumption of energy leads to saving money (reduced bills) besides protection of environment. Observe energy conservation by making small changes in our lifestyles will lead to a significant difference in our overall energy consumption.
