Land pooling begins in Capital region VIJAYAWADA: Even as tension generated by the farm fires in Tullur and Tadepalli mandals in Guntur district continues to cause concern, the state government has set in motion the process of land pooling, a scheme which has come under fire by those who are against surrendering their land for construction of greenfield capital for the state.
With the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Bill becoming an Act on Tuesday, following the bill passed in the Assembly getting the assent of the governor, the Guntur district administration has constituted 27 teams, each headed by a deputy tehsildar begin visiting 29 villages in the capital region identified for acquiring land.
They would interact with farmers, obtain consent letters from them and issue them official certificates to this effect. Initially, the revenue teams would be approaching the farmers who are not too averse to giving their land.
According to official sources, the process of obtaining consent letters for the land would be over by January 15 and the actual construction of capital would begin in the next nine months after receipt of master plan from Singapore.
Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Special Commissioner N Srikanth explained to the revenue teams at Guntur the tasks ahead of them and how they should go about in interacting with farmers, obtaining consent letters from them and issuing receipts.
The revenue staff drafted were from Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and West Godavari districts and more staff would be drafted from other districts too depending on the requirement, officials said.
