At last KCR, Kodandaram shake hands HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Prof M Kodandaram, who have not been seeing eye-to-eye ever since the formation of Telangana, met here after a long time.
The duo ran into each other at the Ravindra Bharati where they had come to attend a function organised to release the TNGOs' 2015 diary.
As KCR walked up to the dais, he shook hands with Kodandaram and exchanged pleasantries as other dignitaries looked on. Much to the delight of the press photographers, the Chief Minister paused for a moment as he approached the TJAC chairman and had a word with him.
The two leaders, who fought shoulder to shoulder for the Telangana cause, have been keeping to themselves once the TRS came to power.
If the Chief Minister is busy administering the State and refrained from roping in Kodandaram to utilise his services, the political science professor too is treading carefully and maintaining his distance from KCR - these days, he neither lavishes praise on the KCR dispensation nor lashes out at it but makes his presence felt on the political landscape now and then.
After releasing the diary of the TNGOs, the Chief Minister recalled the employees' contribution to the struggle for Telangana but made only a passing reference to Kodandaram.
'It's been several days since I have met many of you. It's good to see you all who fought for Telangana. It's like a family get-together,' he remarked. In the same breath, he reiterated that his government would be friendly to employees and exhorted them to do their bit to achieve 'Golden Telangana.'
He informed that the government would announce a Pay Revision Commission in the third week of January and fill up all vacancies soon. Further, he said the government would ensure that spouses work at the same place. 'We will soon decide whether or not to retain the zonal system,' he said.
