AP likely to move High Court on Eamcet HYDERABAD: The issue of conducting Eamcet is all set to land in the court with both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments adopting adamant attitude on the issue.
AP HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that they had no option but to approach the court, if the issue was not resolved by the Union government.
Expressing displeasure over the way the Telangana government is planning to conduct Eamcet separately, Ganta once again made an appeal to Telangana education minister G Jagadish Reddy to cooperate with the AP government's efforts to hold common Eamcet for students of both the states.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat here, Ganta said: 'The AP Reorganisation Act-2014 clearly states that common Eamcet has to be conducted for 10 years. But, the Telangana government is refusing to abide by the Act.
Even governor ESL Narasimhan has advised both the states to conduct the entrance exams by turns every year. But, the Telangana government is not cooperating with us,' he alleged.
'If the governor fails to resolve the issue we will approach the Centre. If it is not resolved even by the Centre, then as a last resort we will move the court,' he said.
Ganta said the TS government from the beginning was trying to create controversy on all issues whether it was FAST, nativity issue, Eamcet counselling or conduct of Intermediate exams.
'Safeguarding the interests of students in both the states is our prime concern. Let us not disturb the status quo. Let the APSCHE conduct the common exam,' he said.
He also found fault with Telangana education minister for allegedly threatening APSCHE chairman Venugopal Reddy.
