TS govt pays Rs 350 cr to BHEL for power HYDERABAD: The State government on Wednesday handed over a cheque for Rs 350 crore to the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) as a first instalment for construction of super critical power stations at Kothagudem and Manuguru.
The BHEL had signed an MoU with the government for the execution of the Rs 3810-crore 800 MW project at Kothagudem and the Rs 4,200-crore 1080 MW project at Manuguru.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who handed over the cheque to BHEL Chairman and Managing Director Prasad Rao, said handing over the construction of power projects to public sector undertakings would ensure transparency.
'TSGenco and BHEL have a great responsibility in making the State power surplus,' he added. The BHEL Chairman said designs of the plants and proposals for boilers and turbines were ready.
'The stage is set for taking up civil works,'' he added and assured the government that the plant at Manuguru will be completed in two years and the one at Kothagudem in three years. The Chief Minister also directed officials to expedite works of the plant at Jaipur in Adilabad.
