KCR promises congestion free Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 1 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has promised to promote Numaish, the All India Industrial Exhibition at Nampally, at the global level.

Speaking after inaugurating the Numaish at Exhibition Grounds here on Thursday, the Chief Minister promised that the State Government would allot patta of 23 acres of land to the Exhibition Society within a week.

He directed Finance Minister Etala Rajender, who is also the Honorary President of Exhibition Society, to ensure that the patta gets issued within the promised period.

KCR claimed that the Numaish provided a perfect platform for several industrial units and other firms to showcase their products and services for the last 75 years. He said that much more could be done through Numaish and directed the Exhibition Society to develop the same on the lines of Delhi's Pragati Maidan.

However, he directed the Society to maintain the status quo on the open lands as it would provide both lung space and greater options to organise big events. He also wanted the Society to promote Telangana's culture while highlighting the role played by the women.

The Chief Minister also promised to turn Hyderabad into a signal-free city by way of construction of multi-layered bridges and elevated corridors. He admitted that Hyderabad has been facing huge traffic congestions on almost all roads.

He said people spend nearly five hours on roads to reach and return from a function where they hardly spend one hour. He said that the State Government would completely change this scenario and free Hyderabad from traffic congestions.

He also proposed that new railway junctions should be constructed on the city's outskirts like Moulali and Kondapur on the lines of Hazrath Nizamuddin in New Delhi.

KCR praised the people of Hyderabad and their hospitality. For the same reason, he said nearly one million people from across the country are settling down in this historic city.

The Chief Minister also showered praises on Last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan and said people of Telangana would always feel proud of him. It was the Last Nizam who constructed irrigation projects, railway stations at Nampally, Secunderabad and Kachiguda.

The Osmania University, Osmania General Hospital and several other hospitals were constructed during the Nizam's reign. Despite losing his kingdom, Mir Osman Ali Khan worked for the welfare of people. He personally donated 250 acres of land and funded the construction of Nizam's Orthopedic Hospital (NIMS) when he was the Raj Pramukh.

He took this decision on learning that one patient from Hyderabad was sent to Madras for some orthopedic treatment. He wanted all required infrastructure in Hyderabad itself and made huge contributions for the same.

KCR reiterated that his government would take all measures to turn Hyderabad into a real Smart City.

Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Finance Minister Etala Rajender, Bhongir MP Dr Narsaiah, Rajya Sabha MP K Keshava Rao, Exhibition Society Vice-President Gangadhar and Secretary Narotham Reddy.

Five personalities, who have put their stalls at Numaish for the last 50 years, were felicitated on the occasion. They are Nawab Shah Alam Khan, A Narasimha Rao, B Ramesh Chandra, Dr Shamshad Hussain and Sk Nizamuddin Hassan. Three persons, who are members of the Society for more than 50 years, were also felicitated by the Chief Minister. They are Justice (Retd) Sitaram Reddy, A Ranga Reddy and N Laxminarayana.

The Exhibition Society came out with a film to mark the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Numaish.
