Burglars attempt to strike at SP's house foiled VIJAYAWADA: In a act of dare-devilry, burglars tried to break into the house of an IPS officer at Kanuru, here in the early hours of January 1.
According to police, five people who came on two bikes, forced their way into the house of Srikakulam Superintendent of Police AS Khan and were spotted moving on the first floor of the house at about 3 AM at a time when the new year revelry was coming to an end.
On seeing them moving on the first floor, a woman who resides in a house in front of SP's house, grew suspicious over their activities and shouted at them.
Sensing trouble, the five youths came down and fled on their bikes. "The intruders did not get to steal anything. They left when the woman raised an alarm," Assistant Commissioner of Police KM Maheswara Raju told. "We are recording the statement of the woman," he said.
The police are trying to figure out who they were and their motive. The Srikakulam SP could not be contacted despite several attempts.
