Temporary capital of AP near Mangalagiri HYDERABAD: After setting the ball rolling for the construction of a new capital city, the Andhra Pradesh Government has launched the process of establishing a temporary 'seat of power' with makeshift structures at Amaravati Township Layout near Mangalagiri in Guntur district.
According to sources, the state government wants to make the temporary capital operational at least by June.
A day after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had announced that all the important departments of the government would be shifted to the new capital region from Hyderabad, the Infrastructure Corporation of AP on Friday invited competitive bids to select an architectural consultancy firm for preparation of master layout plan, architectural plans and detailed drawings for the office space in the temporary capital.
In the first phase, the government wants a carpet area of about 5 lakh sq ft to be developed using prefabricated framed RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete)/PSC (Pre-Stressed Concrete) technology under Engineering, Procurement and Construction Mode.
'While the newly set up Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is involved in the development of a new capital city, there is an immediate need for creation of temporary office space for accommodating heads of various government departments in the new capital region. It is proposed to create this temporary office space within the capital region in Guntur district,' the Andhra Pradesh Government said.
The government, in its tender notice, disclosed that lands totalling 102.29 acres (16.86 acres in Mangalagiri and 85.43 acres in Nowluru) are available in the Amaravati Township Layout for setting up temporary offices.
The selection of architectural consultancy firms would be on the basis of Combined
Quality cum Cost Based Selection method. The validity of the proposal would be 90 days from the proposal due date, which is on January 16.
The CRDA has adopted a two-stage process for selecting the consultant. A technical evaluation would be carried out in the first stage, while a financial evaluation would be done in the second phase.
