Polavaram: Naidu meets villagers of merged mandals Hyderabad, Jan 3 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that he will take the responsibility of seven mandals merged into the new state for the construction of Polavaram multi-purpose project.
Speaking to villagers and public representatives from seven mandals at Camp Office today, the Chief Minister assured best rehabilitation plan for villagers. He added that he will also provide them with the best package for their lands and for contributing to development of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said that a central area will be chosen between the seven mandals (four mandals close to West Godavari and three mandals close to East Godavari) where two ITDA projects will be established. Each of these projects will have an RDO and a project director.
'I will ensure the best development for these merged mandals. Justice will be done to people of Chintoor, Koonavaram, VR Puram, Bhadrachalam, Kukunoor, Velerupadu and Burgumpadu mandals who have given their lands for the project,' he said.
Initially, a temporary plan will be prepared for these mandals' development and later, we will have a concrete plan for the permanent development of these mandals, the Chief Minister said. Some of the scenic places in these mandals will be developed as tourism spots, he said, adding, a fire station, area hospital and a degree college too will be set up in these mandals.
The villagers informed the Chief Minister that during former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy's administration, the compensation was only Rs 115,000 per acre. They requested the Chief Minister to increase this to Rs 5 lakh per acre. Further, they asked the Chief Minister to identify them as 'merged mandals' instead of 'submerged mandals.'
Phaniswaramma of Bhadrachalam Citizens Council felicitated the Chief Minister during the meeting.
MLC Kotla Nageswara Rao, Khammam district TDP President Brahmaiah, Madira, Vyra and Illendu constituencies' TDP representatives and other partymen were present at the meeting.
