TS should maintain friendly ties with centre HYDERABAD: Union Water Resources Ministry Advisor Vedire Sriram said Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was not taking the initiative to get aid from the Centre for irrigation projects in the State.
Speaking to reporters here, Sriram said Centre's assistance for major projects, especially power and irrigation projects, in the State was crucial. 'KCR is maintaining distance from the Centre. He is not making any efforts to improve relationship with the Centre,' he said.
Stating that maintaining cordial relations with the Centre would be beneficial to Telangana, Sriram advised the State government to change its ways so that it could avail many schemes from Delhi.
Sriram said the Centre was giving top priority to inland waterway transportation. 'Inland waterway transportation on Godavari is on the cards and if the State government cooperates with the Centre, the project can be taken up,' he said. The inland waterway transportation is a major project and would provide jobs to over one crore people, he added.
Telangana BJP floor leader K Lakshman said the State government should take the Centre's help for optimum utilisation of Godavari and Krishna waters.
