KCR eyes huge funds from sale of govt lands HYDERABAD: To generate enough revenues to take up ambitious and pet programmes of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the TRS government, which had decided to sell away unused and unutilised government lands, has begun the process of identifying the available land for auction.
Collectors of 10 Telangana districts have been asked to identify litigant-free and undisputed government lands for auction to generate revenues. The government wants to generate Rs.6,500 crore through sale of government land in this current financial year, sources said.
Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma held a video-conference with the District Collectors and told them that the government had decided to sell away unutilised government land. However, the said land should not be embroiled in any disputes, he stressed.
The government wants to identify undisputed land so that there won't be any legal complications and delay in auctioning them.
'Conduct a thorough survey and prepare a detailed report along with details of the market value of the said land and also photographs of the land,' the CS told the Collectors and asked them to take up the job as 'most important and urgent.'
Rajiv Sharma asked the Collectors about the issues involved in identifying and selling of the lands. Hyderabad District Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena told the CS that three aspects are involved in the auction of lands.
Meena said the data available with the government (on lands) had to be re-examined first. Later, a field-level survey has to be taken by an officer above the rank of a Tehsildar. Finally, a committee has to be set up to decide the utilisation of the government land which is identified for auction.
'The land has to be categorised as commercial and residential. The market rate of the said land needs to be fixed by experts in the subject (real estate) and not by officials,' Meena said.
Sources said the government wants to generate a whopping Rs. 6,500 crore through the sale of government lands. Sources, however, said the target may not be achieved as the auction process might take much more time.
'The land had to be surveyed, identified and global tenders have to be called for auction which might take more time,' an official said, adding that KCR is keen on calling global tenders for auction of land.
