Woman, daughter run over by train RAJAHMUNDRY: Two women were run over by a speeding goods train when they were trying to cross the railway tracks near the Kesavaram railway station in Mandapeta mandal of East Godavari district Monday. The deceased were identified as Areti Ramalakshmi (60) and her daughter Sridevi (40) who were going to Dwarapudi for shopping.
The duo attempted to cross the tracks near Kesavaram station when Sridevi, who was partially physically challenged, fell down. Ramalakshmi, who realised that her daughter could not cross, went back to help her when a speeding goods train coming from Samarlakota towards Rajahmundry ran over them. They died on the spot.
