3 Officials suspended for Penukonda bus mishap ANANTAPUR: Transport minister Siddha Raghava Rao announced the suspension of three higher officials, holding them responsible for the RTC bus accident which claimed 15 lives on Wednesday near Penukonda in Anantapur district.
He, along with ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Paritala Sunitha visited the hospital in Bengaluru and consoled the injured who were undergoing treatment there.
The government has suspended DE Srinivasulu and AE Nagaraju of the roads and buildings department and Suryanarayana, RTC depot manager of Madakasira, the minister said.
Meanwhile, the injured are recovering at Hindupur and Bengaluru hospitals. MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna visited the hospital at Hindupur on Thursday and consoled the victims. He assured them of complete help from the government in all aspects.
Five of the injured were shifted to Bengaluru on Wednesday night taking the number of those undergoing treatment there to 17. At Hindupur hospital, there are 35 injured persons at present.
Meanwhile, normal traffic was restored on Penukonda-Madakasira road on Thursday. Paying homage to the deceased, students across the district held peace rallies and mass prayers.
