Metro Rail works moving on fast track HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro Rail works are progressing at a brisk pace. So far 1,700 foundations (44 km), 1,600 pillars (42 km) and 1,290 viaduct spans (33 km) have been completed.
The depot works at Uppal and Miyapur have almost been completed and 18 trains have been received so far at Uppal and Miyapur depots and that different test runs for all the trains are successfully going on between Nagole and Mettuguda.
HMR managing director N V S Reddy informed this to chief secretary Rajiv Sharma during the Special Task Force (STF) meeting held on Friday to review the progress of Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
The chief secretary informed that in view of the urgency for completion of Metro Rail project as per schedule as desired by chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, it has been decided to conduct review meetings on every Tuesday to sort out the pending issues.
Certain decisions, instructions were issued by the chief secretary asking GHMC to complete the ongoing drain work for approach road of Alugaddabavi RuB within 45 days and open the Road Under Bridge for traffic. TSRTC was asked to permit the concessionaire to commence survey work for construction of Interchange at MGBS Metro station immediately.
GHMC, HMR and TSRTC officials will jointly inspect the facilities of TSRTC which need to be relocated and take a decision for allowing Metro works at Imlibun bus depot and construction of third road bridge between Rangmahal Junction and Imlibun bus depot. GHMC was asked to expedite all pending land acquisition issues in the next 45 days.
Chikkadpally traffic police station land has to be made available for Metro Rail parking and circulation area and in lieu thereof a permanent building will be constructed by HMR in the nearby land allotted by GHMC.
Also, Gopalapuram traffic police station land and quarters have to be made available for Metro Rail parking and circulation by shifting the Traffic Police station to nearby GHMC building after carrying out suitable renovation works to suit the requirement of a police station within 10 days.
HMR will construct permanent building for Gopalapuram traffic police station and also their quarters in the land allotted by GHMC. GHMC commissioner, who is heading a committee, has to sort out the issue of payment of compensation to the private property owners and also look into the issues of payments of compensation for GVM property owners and quickly take over the affected properties.
