Chakri's mom accuses Sravani of killing him HYDERABAD: Late music director Chakri's mother G Vidyavathi alleged that her son's untimely death might have been caused by his wife Sravani. She lodged a complaint to this effect with the Jubilee Hills police and demanded an expeditious and transparent probe.
Chakri breathed his last on December 15 last year following a cardiac arrest. However, ever since, his widow Sravani and his mother have been locked in a dispute.
In her complaint, Chakri's mother said her daughter-in-law had threatened to foist false allegations against them. She further recalled that when her son was alive, they had all been living under one roof but that differences cropped up due to Sravani's 'attitude.'
'We have doubts regarding the death of my son. Police should investigate and bring out the facts,' Vidyavathi demanded in her complaint.
Just a couple of days back, Sravani had also lodged a complaint against her mother-in-law and eight others, accusing them of harassing her with an eye on her late husband's property.
The police, who booked cases against her in-laws on Saturday, took cognizance of her mother-in-law's complaint and filed cases against Sravani on Sunday.
Sravani (28), in her complaint, named her in-laws G Madhava Rao, G Vidyavathi, Vani Devi, K Lakshman Rao, Krishna Priya, V Nageswar Rao, K Adiseshagiri, Giri and Pratyusha and alleged they had been pressing her to transfer Chakri's properties to them.
Based on her complaint, the Jubilee Hills police registered cases against nine persons under Section 498 (a) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
