KCR wants to take Metro Rail to suburbs HYDERABAD: To expand the Hyderabad Metro Rail project to other parts of Greater Hyderabad in near future, Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao asked the officials concerned to take up feasibility studies.
The Chief Minister said that there is a need to expand the Metro Rail to areas like Uppal, Trimulgherry, Ghatkesar, Hayatnagar, Patancheru and other places and wanted officials to take up a detail study of the proposed places.
There is a need to improve the transport facilities in Greater Hyderabad limits to match the increasing population, the Chief Minister said.
To deal with traffic woes which is highly prevalent in the twin cities, the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) is being taken up in three corridors to provide better transport facilities to the commuters.
Reviewing the progress of Metro Rail project which is going on in the in three different corridors : Miyapur to L B Nagar, Jubilee Bus Stand to Falaknuma and Nagole to Shilparamam with Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, L&T Chief Executive, Balasubramanian, Chief Executive and Managing Director of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd, V B Gadgil and others, the Chief Minister said that even if three Metro corridors are completed, it would not completely solve the transport needs of the people as the development of city increased to other parts and outskirts of the city.
The population of Hyderabad has crossed one crore mark and every year another 10 lakh population is being added, to meet the public needs, transport facilities has to improved. More CC cameras have to installed and surveillance system strengthened.
