Lambasingi freezes at zero degrees VISAKHAPATNAM: 'Andhra Kashmir' Lambasingi is once again shrouded in thick fog with temperatures dropping to zero degrees in the agency.
Though the area is attracting a steady number of tourists keen on experiencing below normal temperatures, the cold is making life difficult for the tribals.
According to the revenue officials, on Jan 11, Lambasingi recorded zero degree Celsius and while on Jan 12 the least temperatures hovered around one degree Celsius.
Chintapalle village, which is approximately 8 km from Lambasingi, recorded four degree Celsius least temperature on Jan 12. Paderu and other agency areas have also been registering 5 to 8 degrees since a week, while Araku recorded 10 degrees Celsius.
Sources said that daily life has taken a beating with thick fog prevailing till 10 am and bitter cold returning at 4 pm. Transport services are also hit with dense fog reducing visibility.
In Vizag, night temperatures have fallen to 19 and 18 degrees Celsius over the last couple of days, but the day temperatures are touching 28 degrees Celsius. Officials at the Cyclone Warning Centre said land winds from the North East are causing the cold nights, while due to clear skies, the mornings are hot, a phenomenon never seen before.
