Many IAS officers opt for Telangana HYDERABAD: With the last date for applying for change of cadre ending, 19 IAS, ten IPS and ten IFS officers have wanted to change their cadre.
The department of personnel and training (DoPT), after allocating the All India Service (AIS) officers to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state cadres provisionally, gave 15 days' time to officers to submit their requests for change of cadre on the ground of swapping, marriage or retiring within next two years, if any.
Several officers, provisionally allotted on December 26, have sent their requests through AP and TS chief secretaries. The DoPT gave 15 days' time for the AIS officers to submit their requests. After considering the rules, the DoPT will announce the final list of AIS officers of both AP and TS cadre in the next 30 days.
According to sources in IAS circles, four IAS officers allotted to TS have opted for AP and 15 allotted to AP have opted for TS. The officials sent their representation to DoPT by e-mail.
The swapping of officers will be allowed in the same cadre and same pay grade. In such a case, the request of most of the IAS officers may not be considered as only four IAS officers have opted to go to AP from TS.
The officers seeking change of cadre is purely for personal reasons. However, in some cases, they have some political reasons too. An officer who worked closely with the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has been allotted to AP cadre.
Now, he is feeling uncomfortable to work with a minister of his department. The officer strongly desires to be allotted to TS cadre. As he was allotted to AP provisionally, the officer is now trying to for TS cadre and opted for the same.
It remains to be seen whether he will be lucky enough or not. If he is lucky and allotted to TS, then he will insist on posting in a particular department, highly placed sources said.
Except one or two IAS officers, most of them wanted to come back to TS to work in Hyderabad till their retirement. 'The IAS officers opted from AP to TS cadre have personal reasons for doing so. It remains to be seen how many will succeed in getting cadre change,' an IAS officer said.
According to sources, officers who opted for cadre change from AP to TS failed to get their wish fulfilled, they may also be planning to go to the central services on deputation as they are not interested to work in AP.
According to sources, Aditya Nath Das, BP Acharya, Manmohan Singh, T Radha and Swetha Mohanty are among the 15 IAS officers who opted for TS.
