7 hrs power supply to farm sector for Rabi in AP Hyderabad, Jan 14 (INN): Keeping in view the projected increasing demand for power during the ongoing Rabi season and to protect the interests of farming sector, the power utilities of Andhra Pradesh Government have fully geared up to provide assured seven hours quality power supply to the agriculture sector.
A special mechanism has been adopted to see that not even a single acre crop (at any cost) wither due to short supply of power, said Energy Secretary Ajay Jain during a teleconference with CMD of APTRANSCO and MD of GENCO.
He said that there would be no compromise on seven hours power supply to farm sector and issued clear cut instructions to the DISCOM officials for taking up all possible steps to replace failed Distribution Transformers (DTRs) within stipulated time i.e., 24 hours in rural areas also.
'Equal priority will be given to both industry as well as agricultural sector which are the backbone of the economy of the State, in providing quality of supply/service.
That's why a special programme is being contemplated to adopt to involve all the 14.5 lakh consumers of agricultural sector in achieving the target of the Govt. in energy efficiency/ conservation in the sector where around 35% power can be saved through short term and long term Demand Side Management (DSM) measures,' he said.
