Congress leader Paladugu passes away Hyderabad, January 19: Senior Congress leader Paladugu Venkat Rao passed away Monday early morning. He was undergoing treatment for ill health due to age at Apollo Hospitals. Paladugu who was ailing for some time and was admitted into hospital recently.
He was 75 years old and is survived by wife Susheela. Paladugu started his political journey by joining Youth Congress in 1968.He was elected as MLA twice from Nuziveedu in 1978 and 1989. He became Rural Development Minister in Anjaiah cabinet after getting elected from Nuziveedu in 1978 for the first time. He went on to serve as Minister for Agriculture Minister (1982) and Marketing Minister (1982-83).
Currently he was the MLC in AP assembly. Paladugu was elected as MLC in the Assembly quota in 2009. He was re-elected again in 2011 for a six year term. His tenure would have ended in 2017. Till his last breath he was in loyalty with Congress party.
The body of the Congress leader was brought home and would be kept at Indira Bhavan.It would shifted to Nuzvid in the evening and the last rites would be performed on Wednesday morning at his ancestral village. Many leaders, paid tribute to the veteran leader and recalled his services for the state and party.
