Vastu makes Naidu skip meet at ANU GUNTUR: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has once again skipped a programme at Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) in Guntur. He was supposed to be the chief guest of the three-day National Youth Science Congress inaugural at ANU being attended by 800 plus delegates from across the country.
However, university officials were informed in the eleventh hour about the change in the plans of the CM, who at that time, was on the last leg of his padayatra for smart village/ward campaign in West Godavari district.
According to sources, Naidu was advised against participating in the programmes at ANU by some 'Vastu' Pandits. However, his Cabinet colleagues rubbished it and said the CM was tired due to his padayatra. Hence, he had to skip the programme.
Though agriculture minister P Pulla Rao was in pains to tell the gathering about the reasons for the absence of CM at the programme, many in the auditorium did not look convinced. It was not the first time Chandrababu Naidu had skipped a programme at ANU or had the venue changed in the last minute citing some reason.
He was supposed to be swearing in as chief minister at the oath-taking ceremony on ANU campus, but citing security and space constraints as reasons, it was changed.
Then, there was a proposal for having the chief minister's camp office on ANU campus, as he was contemplating spending some quality time in a month in the proposed capital region.
However, it too got shelved, reportedly due to the advice of 'vastu pundits', but it was denied by the officials. In September, Teachers Day was supposed to be celebrated at ANU campus where Chandrababu and a host of his ministers were to participate and present the Best Teacher awards but the venue was changed to Police Parade Grounds in the city in the last minute. By the time the venue was changed, the invitations were published and sent.
In November, Assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said a proposal was mooted to hold winter session of AP State Assembly at ANU but later he clarified that the proposal was rejected with the officials not finding the proposed arrangement viable.
