KCR promises to upgrade Bibinagar NIMS into AIIMS Hyderabad, Jan 20 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced that the Nizam's Insitute of Medical Sciences at Bibinagar in Nalgonda district would be upgraded in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The Chief Minister said that as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the Telangana State has been promised one AIIMS. Therefore, he has decided to upgrade the Bibinagar NIMS into AIIMS.
The decision was taken after KCR's visited the Bibinagar NIMS and held a review meeting with the officials. KCR said that location was quite appropriate for AIIMS as Bibinagar NIMS is centrally located and have good road connectivity through Warangal Highway and Outer Ring Road.
He said that the State Government has already identified about 400 acres of land and would provide more land, if required. On its upgradation to AIIMS, the Bibinagar NIMS would naturally get approvals for a medical college, nursing institute and other related institutions.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr T. Rajaiah, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Bhongir MP Burra Narsaiah Goud, Parliamentary Secretary G Kishore, MLAs Shekhar Reddy, G Sunitha, Sudheer Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy, Legislative Council vice-chairman Nethi Vidyasagar, MLCs Karne Prabhakar and P Ravinder, Medical & Health Secretary Suresh Chandra, ZP chairman Balu Naik and others were also present during KCR's visit.
