Kakinada SEZ inaugurates Rural BPO
Kakinada, Jan 21 (INN): A state of the art Rural BPO center created by Kakinada SEZ Pvt. Ltd. (KSEZ), a GMR Group Company, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Kotha Mulapeta village in U.Kothapalli Mandal of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh State.
The center has been conceived and built in collaboration with TATA Business Support Services Ltd. (TBSSL), one of the largest Domestic BPO Services companies in India.
The center was inaugurated by Srinivas Koppolu, Managing Director of TBSSL and Prasanna Challa, President - KSEZ. On this occasion, Chief Guests were initially issued Appointment Orders to 20 youths hails from R&R colony who have undergone the training in Kakinada SEZ training centre.
The rural BPO will move the BPO industry away from the established Metros and the Tier II cities, to rural areas where there is an abundance of good quality manpower. Organizations such as TBSSL, have proved that with proper training, the young boys and girls of rural India can perform in a BPO as effectively as their urban counterparts and in a far more cost-effective manner.
In a statement released today, Prasanna Challa, President- KSEZ said, "Kakinada SEZ, which is a part of the infrastructure major GMR Group, would provide world class general and technical infrastructure including digital connectivity to the Rural BPO. The youth from villages in and around Kakinada SEZ would be provided training by the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, the CSR arm of GMR Group."
The Kakinada SEZ also announced that the first phase of development has commenced with the initial units, in sectors such as Marine Food Processing and Toys that would be coming up in the next 3-6 months, with an employment potential of 1500-2000 within a year. Priority would be given to the persons from project displaced families as well as those families which have given land to the SEZ.
SrinivasKoppolu Managing Director of TBSSL said, "The center has a capacity of about 200. The operations in the center are expected to commence in February 2015. We hope that this centre would herald a long and beneficial collaboration between TBSSL and the GMR Group across rural locations in India."
