KCR snubs Rajaiah, asks NIMS chief to brief media HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is reportedly unhappy with the functioning of deputy chief minister and health minister T Rajaiah in disseminating information on Swine Flu, asked NIMS director L Narendranath to brief the media on a daily basis about Swine Flu cases.
This is a significant development after Rajaiah's recent remarks against Narendranath that they had information that the NIMS director was harassing Telangana staff.
On a day of hectic developments, Rao held a series of meetings on Swine Flu in Secretariat. Rao reportedly expressed his displeasure over Rajaiah's style of functioning, especially after Swine Flu started claiming lives of people.
Later at a media briefing, the Chief Minister said that NIMS director would brief the media daily on Swine Flu cases and the measures taken up by the government. Asked about the failure of the Medical and Health Department, especially Rajaiah, the Chief Minister said, 'I do not find fault with the Minister'.
However, the Chief Minister's displeasure was clearly seen as he frequently referred to the health department. He did not take the name of Rajaiah at the press meet. When, Rajaiah tried to explain to the media during the press conference, the Chief Minister prevented him from doing so.
Even when Rao reviewed about the setting up AIIMS at the NIMS campus in Bibinagar on Tuesday, Rajaiah was not present. It was only after a decision was taken in the Secretariat and the CM left for inspection of NIMS, Rajaiah came into the picture.
