TRS aims to re-brand Old City as 'Asli Hyderabad'

Hyderabad, Jan 22 (INN): Sending a strong message of its arrival in the Old City of Hyderabad, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Thursday admitted several workers, including women, belonging to different parties, into its fold.

The TRS leaders claimed that over 2,500 people, including 1,000 women, joined the TRS on Thursday. They include workers and local leaders of Congress, TDP and the MIM.

The TRS leaders also announced that they would reach "all the lanes and by-lanes of Old City" to convey the information about various welfare schemes being implemented by TRS Government in the State.

They also promised to bring back the lost glory of 'Asli Hyderabad' (Old City). They have also named a huge building at Etebar Chowk on Mir Alam Mandi road as TRS Bhavan and claimed that TRS was the only party to have such a large office in the entire Old City.

For today's event, huge cut outs, banners and pink flags were erected on all the roads leading to TRS Bhavan. Huge banners, in English and Urdu languages, highlighting different schemes like 12% Muslim reservation, Shaadi Mubarak, KG to PG free education, etc., were erected around the TRS Bhavan.

Welcoming the people into TRS fold, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali claimed that only TRS Government could bring development in the Old City of Hyderabad. He assured that all the promises made by the TRS in its manifesto would be fully implemented.

He said that KCR was firm on giving 12% reservation to Muslims in jobs and education and this policy alone would benefit lakhs of Muslims in the State. He also spoke about successful implementation of several welfare schemes.

Mentioning about Shaadi Mubarak scheme, he said that the TRS Government has provided major relief to poor Muslim parents by providing them Rs 51,000 at the time of their daughter's marriage.

Similarly, priority is being given for weaker section housing scheme and the recent decision to regularise illegal houses on up to 125 Sq Yards of government land at free of cost would benefit hundreds of poor people.

Speaking on the occasion, TRS Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency incharge Rashid Shareef informed that the TRS plans to reach every lane and by-lane of the Old City to apprise the people about various welfare schemes. He said that the development of Old City was possible only through creating awareness among people.

The TRS Government has allocated Rs 1,030 Crore in the State budget for minorities' welfare and with Hyderabad being a minority-concentrated district, the Old City residents were bound to benefit the most from the welfare schemes.

However, the information about various schemes needs to be conveyed properly to the deserving beneficiaries. So far, he said that the TRS workers were able to get pensions for about 4,500 deserving beneficiaries and hundreds of applications have been forwarded under 'Shaadi Mubarak' scheme.

Rashid Shareef announced that the TRS would conduct meetings in all divisions of Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency to create awareness among the people about TRS Government's welfare schemes.

He said that a division-wise survey has already been initiated to identify the problems being faced the people in the Old City and its findings would be segregated to make representations to various departments and ministries.

Since 'Brand Hyderabad' would be incomplete without bringing development into the Old City, he said that the TRS would restore the lost glory of 'Asli Hyderabad'.
