HMDA wants to relook at ITIR locations Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) asked consultants to examine the necessity and possibility of revisiting locations in Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR).
They also asked to assess the infrastructure facility, air, transportation connectivity, extend and review locations in the prestigious Information Technology Investment Region, which were identified along the Outer Ring Road.
It was asked to carry out necessary independent market surveys to capture the value of development, provide information on potential demand for various land uses such as housing, commercial, retail, office space, light industrial, identify opportunities for mixed land use development, assess the intensity of the area development, broad development risks and evolve mitigation measures.
The Hyderabad ITIR area, in five zones, includes designated areas like Cybderabad, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Maheshwaram, Pocharam, Adibatla, Raviryal, Mamidipalli and Uppal.
The consultant was asked to submit the report within six months by incorporating the land use pattern and also carry out a study on the Comprehensive Transport System (CTS) and on Transit Oriented Development (TOD) to suit the requirements of IT firms.
The Hyderabad ITIR area is earmarked on 49, 9130 acre with 20,356 acre for industries, 1,633 acre for commercial, 9,422 acre for residential and 6,415 acre for roads and other utilities. Around 6,293 acre of green cover and recreation bodies was planned to maintain the ecological balance in the region.
Officials said that HMDA would study other ITIR regions in the country such as Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPCR, Gujarat), Bangalore BIAL-ITIR, Bhubaneswar ITIR and Chennai ITIR to formulate an exceptional investment plan as per the existing Hyderabad Metropolitan Region Plan-2031.
The Hyderabad ITIR project was modeled on the lines of Shenzen, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in China and PCPCR, Gujarat in 2012. Most of the designated areas under ITIR were under the Cyberabad Development Authority (CDA) and Hyderabad Airport Development Authority (HADA), which were merged with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority in 2008.
