Tummala, Kadiam are betrayers of Telangana: Shabbir Ali

Hyderabad, Feb 9 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Vice-President Mohammed Ali Shabbir has described R&B Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari as the betrayers of Telangana.

He was speaking to media persons on Monday after TPCC leaders submitted a memorandum to State Human Rights Commission against the alleged attack on TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah during the Congress party's padyatara on February 7 in protest against the proposed shifting of Chest Hospital and State Secretariat.

Shabbir Ali strongly condemned Tummala's criticism against the Congress party wherein he questioned the motives of padayatra. 'Where was Tummala during the Telangana agitation?' he asked and alleged that he was part Chandrababu Naidu's team which openly opposed statehood for Telangana. While Tummala joined the ruling party four months after the formation of Telangana, Kadiam joined the TRS at the fag end of Telangana movement. "Both are opportunists and had tried to betray the Telangana movement on multiple occasions. However, they joined the TRS only for political gains and are now trying to question the Congress party which granted statehood for Telangana," he said.

The Congress MLC said that the cabinet of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao comprises of a bunch of opportunist politicians who openly opposed formation of Telangana. He said as many as eight ministers, including KCR, had served as ministers in Chandrababu Naidu's cabinet. "The TRS leaders should rewind the tapes to check how their party has accommodated a large group of betrayers in the government," he said.

Shabbir Ali said that AICC President Sonia Gandhi granted statehood for Telangana only to prevent further suicides by students and youth. She took a favourable decision despite knowing the fact that the Congress would lose elections in both Telangana and Seemandhra region. "Tummala and Kadiam are now ministers due to the "Bhiksha" (Alms) given by the Congress party. Therefore, they have no moral right to speak anything against the Congress party," he said.

The TPCC Vice-President also took a dig at Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao and described him as a "kid" in politics. He advised KTR to restrain from speaking against the Congress party. Referring to KTR's claim that foiling of Congress padayatra was a trailer, he said that the common people would soon show the real trailer to TRS Government due to its anti-people policies.

Shabbir Ali also advised police officials not to act as agents of TRS party.

Earlier, a delegation comprising of Shabbir Ali, Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender, Rajya Sabha MP MA Khan, former MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav and other leaders met the SHRC Chairman seeking action against the officials responsible for attack on Ponnala Lakshmaiah. Subsequently, the SHRC has directed Chief Secretary and Director General of Police to probe into the matter through an Additional DGP and submit a report by February 23.
