Vij airport expansion, Ryots demand uniform price for land VIJAYAWADA: Farmers of Kesarapalli, Buddavaram and Aganampudi, from where lands are proposed to be acquired for expansion of the Vijayawada Airport, have made it clear to Krishna district collector Babu A that they want the government to offer a uniform price as per Section 26 B of the Land Acquisition Act.
At a meeting organised here Friday, the farmers reportedly rejected the offer of the collector to pay up to `79.12 lakh per acre for lands at Kesarapalle, `50 lakh for lands at Buddhavarm and `40 lakh for those at Aganampudi. He said the price was fixed based on the basic value and that a final decision would be taken by the government.
Meanwhile, CRDA additional commisisoner Gandham Chandrudu said the farmers' lands could be acquired under the land-pooling system as the area had come under CRDA.
He said that land-pooling ownership certificate would be given to farmers within nine months and depending on the location of the land, 1,000 sq.yards of residential land and 300 sq.yards of commercial land would be given to farmers.
As CRDA has come into force by an Act of the Assembly, the farmers need not worry about injustice being meted out to them, he added. But this idea, according to sources, did not go down well with the farmers who wanted their land to be taken under the Land Acquisition Act as the draft notification had been issued even before the CRDA came into effect.
The collector told the farmers that the government had issued the draft notification for acquisition of 121.97 acre at Keserapalli, 196.56 acre at Buddavaram and 112.48 acre at Aganampudi. He said that the land was required for phase-wise development of the airport.
As the Dalit colony in Buddavaram, where 100 houses are present, is close to the runway, there is no way the land could be exempted from acquisition. The government would, however, relocate the residents at Venkatanarasimhapuram, near Kesarapalli, by constructing houses with all facilities under R and R package.
