Centre for Jain studies launched at IIAM

Visakhapatnam: The Dr. Adarsh Muni Centre for Jain Studies and an Online Certificate Course on Jain Principles of Business Management were formally launched at the Integral Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM) here on Monday in the presence of academicians, spiritual leaders, and members of the business community.

The initiative aims to promote the ethical, spiritual, and philosophical foundations of Jainism while integrating its timeless principles with modern management education and responsible business practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Vishal Shah, a noted philanthropist, emphasised that Jain philosophy has played a profound role in shaping ethical entrepreneurship and responsible wealth creation in India. He noted that values such as Ahimsa (non-violence), Aparigraha (non-possessiveness), and Satya (truthfulness) have guided generations of Jain entrepreneurs in building businesses rooted in integrity and compassion. He expressed hope that the new centre would serve as an important platform for research, dialogue, and the dissemination of Jain values among young professionals.

S.P. Ravindra, Dean and Secretary of IIAM, highlighted the academic significance of the initiative. He stated that the establishment of the Centre for Jain Studies reflects the institute's commitment to integrating spiritual wisdom with contemporary education. According to him, the online certificate course on Jain Principles of Business Management will provide students, entrepreneurs, and working professionals with insights into ethical leadership, sustainable business practices, and value-based decision making inspired by Jain teachings.

Dr. Muni Adarsh Acharyaji in his speech noted that Jain philosophy encourages self-discipline, compassion, and respect for all living beings. He also stressed that the principle of Anekantavada, which teaches respect for multiple viewpoints, can help individuals develop tolerance, dialogue, and balanced decision-making in a diverse society.

Prof. V. Krishnamohan, Director General of IIAM, said the centre would encourage interdisciplinary research on Jain philosophy, culture, and its applications in modern management and governance.

Prof. Challa Krishnaveer Abhishek, Professor of Practice at IIAM, spoke about the relevance of Jain ethical frameworks in today's complex business environment. He said the certificate programme will enable participants from across the world to study Jain management principles through digital learning platforms.
