Complete Amaravati capital region development works as per schedule: CM

20,000 workers and experts are engaged in capital construction works

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the construction of Amaravati capital must be completed as per schedule and emphasised that all works should be executed at a faster pace so that the Prime Minister can inaugurate the projects.
During a review meeting held at the camp office on Saturday with various contracting agencies involved in capital construction, the Chief Minister instructed officials to continuously monitor progress and ensure timely completion.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that capital works worth Rs 57,821 crore are currently underway at various stages, out of which projects worth Rs 50,943 crore have already been grounded. The review covered progress in housing, roads, trunk infrastructure, LPS amenities and iconic structures such as the Assembly, High Court, and Secretariat buildings.

At present, around 20,000 workers and experts are engaged in capital construction works. The Chief Minister reviewed the performance of each contractor, assessing progress against targets and expressed dissatisfaction with delays by certain agencies.

Contractors highlighted manpower shortages due to ongoing elections in various states, which have led to workers returning to their native places. The Chief Minister advised them to utilize locally available skilled manpower to the maximum extent.

He directed that weekly and monthly targets be set and strictly followed. He reiterated that there is no shortage of funds for capital construction and urged contractors handling multiple projects to intensify their focus. He emphasized quality, cost-effectiveness and the adoption of green energy and advanced technologies in construction. Amaravati must be developed as a future-ready city with innovation and excellence.

The Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over the negligence of construction agencies in safeguarding materials. He stated that such lapses are bringing criticism upon the government and noted that both contractors and officials failed to respond adequately to recent incidents. He warned that in a politically sensitive environment, even minor lapses could be exploited.

The Chief Minister instructed that immediate alerts should be issued in case of any untoward incidents and emphasized the need for appointing competent project managers. He made it clear that negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of sand and gravel required for capital works. He stressed that shortages must not cause delays.
He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone creating hurdles and instructed senior officials to coordinate with the Collectors of Krishna, Guntur, and NTR districts to resolve the issues immediately.
