Last rites of TPF leader Akula Bhoomaiah performed
KARIMNAGAR: Large number of people bid a tearful adieu to Telangana Praja Front (TPF) state president Akula Bhoomaiah here on Thursday. Bhoomaiah was killed in a road accident in Hyderabad on Tuesday night. His last rites were performed in his native village of Kachapur in Julapally mandal amid slogans of 'Bhoomanna Amar Rahe'.
Revolutionary Democratic Front national chairman Varavara Rao, Viplava Rachaeetala Sangam representative Phani, Human Rights Association member Raghunath, TPF vice-president Veda Kumar, DTF state president C Narayana Reddy, DTF vice-president M Raghushankar Reddy and various representatives of other organisations paid tributes to Bhoomaiah. Suspecting a planned murder, Varavara Rao demanded an investigation into the accident that killed Bhoomaiah.
He also read out a letter by the Maoists, which had arrived in the name of Maoist Party Central Region Bureau secretary Anand. The letter alleged a government conspiracy in the accident. As Bhoomaiah was fighting against the neo-liberal and global policies of the government, he was eliminated, the letter alleged.
Bhoomaiah hailed from the teaching community and had worked in various organisations. He was a part of the Radical Students Union (RSU) during his B Ed days in Jammikunta and played a key role in expansion of the Naxalite movement during its peak. Bhoomaiah's body was kept at Telangana Chowk for sometime enroute to his native village for people to pay their tributes to the leader.
