AP to revive journalist awards: Media Academy Chairman Vijayawada: The State government will revive the awards for media personnel for excellence in journalism, C.R. Media Academy Chairman Alapati Suresh Kumar said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference at the Academy office along with Information and Public Relations Director K.S. Viswanathan, Mr. Suresh Kumar said a four-member committee had been constituted under his chairmanship to select and present the awards for the year 2025-26.

The committee includes former India Today Editor A.A.V. Prasad, Andhra Kesari University in-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof. D.V.R. Murthy, retired High Court judge Justice Satyanarayana Murthy as members, and Mr. Viswanathan as member-convenor.
As per orders issued in undivided Andhra Pradesh, 12 awards will be given, he said. Some will be decided at the committee's discretion, while others will be based on applications from eligible candidates.
The Lifetime Achievement Award carries ₹3 lakh, the Best Journalist and Best Photo Journalist awards carry ₹2 lakh each, and the remaining awards carry ₹1 lakh each. A notification with eligibility criteria and the last date for applications will be issued soon, he added.
Replying to a question, Mr. Suresh Kumar clarified that only minimum experience was prescribed for the awards and it was not linked to accreditation.
