Treasure hunt ends in murder of two men KURNOOL: A secret hunt for hidden treasure ended in the death of two persons and arrest of 10 others on Thursday. The incident occurred at Boya Bonthirala village in Krishnagiri mandal of this district.
According to Dhone CI D Prabhakar, the 12 avaricious persons had gone to the village around 2 a.m. along with a JCB poclainer and a car and started digging for some hidden treasure after performing 'pooja' at a selected spot.
However, some villagers noticed the activity and tried to nab them. Even as the diggers were trying to flee, the JCB proclainer driver ran over two priests--siblings G Nagaraju and G Rama Devi of Palamakula village in Mahabubnagar district--who were sleeping after performing the 'pooja'.
Meanwhile, the angry villagers managed to catch three of the culprits and handed them over to the police.
The villagers suspect that the siblings could have been killed as an offering of sacrifice by other members of the gang. Village sarpanch Laxminarayana said that it was the third incident treasure in the village and alleged that the police had not taken any action earlier.
