VHR's second leg thanks giving yatra from Jan 2 HYDERABAD: The second-leg of Indira Ratha Yatra led by Rajya Sabha member V Hanumanth Rao will commence at Amangal in Mahbubnagar district on January 2.
Disclosing it to mediapersons after a meeting with Congress MPs, ministers, DCC presidents and secretaries of Telangana districts at Club House in the ministers' quarters here on Friday, Hanumanth Rao said that main objective of the Yatra was to thank AICC president Sonia Gandhi for making Telangana State a reality.
Those who attended the meeting included K Jana Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Basvaraju Saraiah and G Prasad Babu. Since the CWC decision, sporadic meetings had been held thanking the party chief for the decision, but there is need for taking the message to the masses, he said.
Covering Mahbubnagar district till January 5, the Yatra will enter Medak district, where it will continue till January 10, before entering Nizamabad district. 'The first leg of the Yatra, taken up for four days from December 3 from Yadgiriguta in Nalgonda district, evoked a good response,' he said.
The meeting at ministers quarters mourned veteran Congress leader and a leading figure of 1969 Telangana movement, MM Hashim, who died in the US four days ago.
