5 kin of Maharashtra MLC die in ORR car mishap HYDERABAD: Five members of a family, four of them women, died on the spot after they suffered severe head injuries when the vehicle in which they were travelling hit a parked sand-laden truck on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Tukkuguda here in the Pahadishareef police limits on Friday.
The victims were close relatives of Rajendra Jain, an MLC from Gondia-Bhandara, Nagpur in Maharashtra. Four others of same family were hospitalised with serious injuries and their condition is stated to be serious.
The deceased have been identified as Vidya Yodender Katre, 30, Bharath Baguley, 58, Powran Bai Patel, 60, Vachalla Bai Surugure, 55, and Dheenu Bai, 60. The injured are Yogender Katre, Sukhdev, Prabha Bai and Manoj. All are natives of Tirora town in Gondia district in Maharashtra.
Pahadishareef inspector D Bhaskar Reddy said that the accident took place around 6 am on Friday when the victims were proceeding to Tirupati from Tirora town by a Tata Sumo Grande Dicor vehicle.
All the victims were into business in Tirora of Maharashtra. As the vehicle reached Exit gate 14, the driver failed to notice the parked sand-laden truck and the Sumo hit the truck from the rear.
'Over speeding by the Sumo driver and poor visibility due to fog on the ORR might could have led to the accident. Soon after the accident, passerby alerted the Cyberabad police who came to the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured persons to the Osmania Hospital for post-mortem and treatment respectively,'' the inspector said.
Later, Cyberabad police commissioner CV Anand told newsmen that the police would conduct regular patrolling on the ORR to prevent such ghastly accidents.
So far, in 2013, 3,751 accidents have been reported in the Cyberabad police limits. In these, 1,091 people died and 3,834 were injured. The ORR witnessed 41 accidents which claimed the lives of 60 persons. The most number of fatal accidents took place on the Vijayawada national highway with 99 deaths.
