Kiran hits Sridhar Babu to boundary HYDERABAD: In a surprise development, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy late on Tuesday stripped Minister for Civil Supplies D Sridhar Babu of his additional portfolio ' Legislative Affairs and allotted the same to School Education Minister S Sailajanath.
The development came as a rude shock to the Telangana protagonists who have been hoping to get the Telangana Bill passed in the winter session of the State Assembly to be resumed on January 3.
Sridhar Babu played instrumental in getting the Telangana bill introduced in the Assembly in the session and getting the debate initiated with the help of Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
Both Sridhar Babu and Bhatti hail from Telangana region. And it was Sridhar Babu who was responsible for making the Assembly prorogue plan of the Chief Minister a big issue.
As if to project it as a routine administrative affair, the Chief Minister handed over the Commercial Development portfolio to Sridhar Babu.
Similarly, Tourism Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Telugu language development portfolio. It is obvious that by stripping Sridhar Babu of Legislative Affairs portfolio, Kiran is going to make all out efforts to get the Telangana bill stalled in the Assembly.
And it is a known fact that Sailajanath is a hard-core opponent of State bifurcation and he has been championing the united Andhra Pradesh cause for a quite a long time. He has been a close confidant of Kiran.
Though it is a temporary setback for Sridhar Babu, it will certainly make him a hero in the Telangana region. The immediate reaction of Sridhar Babu to the latest development is not known, but sources said he would definitely fight back.
