Kiran's party turns talk of the town HYDERABAD: Even though chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is still keeping his cards close to his chest over launching a new political party to cash in on Samaikyandhra sentiment, his ministerial colleagues and some of the Congress MLAs from his region are busy making predictions on the future moves of Kiran Reddy.
Assembly lobbies were once again abuzz with the talk of the possibility of the Chief Minister launching a new political party. Two key leaders of the Congress from Seemandhra - secondary education minister K Parthasarathi and senior MLA Adala Prabhakar Reddy felt that Kiran Reddy might launch a new political party after January 23, the deadline set by the President Pranab Mukherjee to complete the debate on the T-Bill in the Assembly.
Parthasarathi said the chief minister might launch a new political party after Jan 23. Interestingly, the secondary education minister, who is considered a close aide of Kiran Reddy, further said the chief minister might not float the party if the state was bifurcated before 2014 polls.
'I believe, the chief minister might float a new political party only in the event of Andhra Pradesh remaining as it is before the ensuing general polls,' he said.
Parthasarathi made these comments when he was informally chatting with some newsmen at the Assembly lobbies along with his colleague from Telangana DK Aruna.
However, Aruna disagreed with the view of Parthasarathi and said Kiran Reddy would not leave Congress as he was a loyal Congressman. Hence, she felt that the possibility of the chief minister floating a new political party was highly remote.
Meanwhile, MLA Adala Prabhakar Reddy claimed that Kiran Reddy told him that he was going to reveal an earthshaking news to his party leaders after January 23.
'The chief minister told some of us that he was going to drop a bombshell after January 23,' the senior legislator told reporters at the Assembly lobbies.
