BJP wary of truck with TDP Hyderabad : Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh assured Telangana BJP leaders that any decision on an alliance with TDP would be taken only after consulting State party leaders.
The BJP president, who is here recently to participate in a meeting of the RSS executive, met party office-bearers at a private hotel on Wednesday. According to sources, there were two opinions within the party regarding a tie-up with TDP in the State.
It is said that Rajnath Singh asked State BJP leaders not to raise the Telangana issue as the party was committed to Telangana state. He said that the party would support the Telangana bill and added that the Seemandhra's interests also needed to be protected.
It is learnt that Telangana leaders insisted that the party should not have any truck with the TDP. Sources said that while Baddam Bal Reddy did not want any alliance with TDP, another leader N Indrasena Reddy wanted more number of seats for BJP in case of an alliance with TDP.
Mahabubnagar MLA Y Srinivas said that the party had to suffer badly because of the alliance with TDP previously. The Seemandhra leaders gave a five-page memorandum to the BJP president demanding justice to Seemandhra.
Meanwhile, former union minister and rebel star Krishnam Raju rejoined BJP along with his supporters in the presence of Rajnath Singh on Wednesday. Raju said that though he had been away from the party for a few years, he was happy to return. 'There is a need to defeat forces that are creating loss to the country,' he said and predicted a huge win for Modi in the next elections.
