UPA firm on Telangana formation: Shinde HYDERABAD: Reiterating UPA's resolve to form Telangana state, Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Friday said that as soon as the draft T Bill which is in the AP state Assembly is received in Delhi it would be placed before the Parliament.
Speaking to newsmen in Delhi, the Union Home Minister said: 'The President has given time till January 23 for the AP Assembly to discuss on the draft Bill. After the deadline is over, the Bill will come to Delhi. Once it comes to us, we will place it before the Parliament,' Shinde said, indicating that there were no second thoughts on the formation of Telangana state.
Meanwhile, AP Congress affairs in-charge Digvijaya Singh denied having ever said that the draft Bill that is before the AP Assembly cannot be put to vote.
'I believe in democracy. If any privilege notice is served on me, I have no hesitation to appear before AP Assembly and tender my apology,' Digvijaya Singh said. The AICC general secretary said that Seemandhra members of the Assembly were free to move amendments to the clauses in the Bill.
