BJP reiterates its support to T-bill HYDERABAD: While reiterating party support to Telangana state, BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitaraman sid her party would support the AP Reorganisation Bill whenever it is tabled in Parliament.
Speaking to the media in Delhi on Sunday, Nirmala said the BJP's stand on Telangana was clear and it is for the ruling Congress party to say when it would be introducing the bill in Parliament.
Finding fault with Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for the proposal to set up a committee to consider withdrawal of cases against minorities, she said, his advice is unconstitutional and he has no right to withdraw cases.
Sitaraman said all are equal before law and that withdrawing cases against a particular community is not right. 'Governments should deal with criminals, irrespective of their religion, as per law,' she said.
Shinde, on January 10, wrote to all chief ministers, asking them to be 'careful' while arresting minorities. He wrote on detention procedures, asking the chief ministers to form panels to review cases of people jailed without trial. 'Release minority youths if they are illegally detained,' Shinde wrote.
