At the start of Dhanurmasam, the Suprabhata Seva is replaced by Tiruppavai wherein temple priests recite Tiruppavai Pasurams penned by renowned saint poetess Andal Sri Goda Devi in the place of Suprabhatam almost for a month.
Dhanurmasam commenced at 10.31 a.m on December 16, 2013 and Tiruppavai replaced the Suprabhata Seva from Dec 17. As per the Hindu Almanac, Dhanurmasam concluded at 6.30 p.m on January 14. Hence, Suprabhata Seva resumed in the Tirumala shrine on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, pilgrims on Thursday will have a triple bonanza with three important events--Sri Goda Parinayam, Paruveta Utsavam and Pranaya Kalahotsavam--taking place in the temple town of Tirumala.
In wake of these rituals, the TTD has cancelled Arjitha Sevas like Thomala Archana, Tiruppavada, Kalyanotsavam, Unjalseva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva on Thursday. The monthly Pournami Garuda Seva has also been suspended in connection with these festivals on Kanuma Pongal Day (Thursday).
