Mekapati refutes Sabbam charge against Jagan NELLORE: Nellore YSRC MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy dismissed the allegations of Congress MP Sabbam Hari that YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was playing a crucial role in the state bifurcation issue.
'There is no truth in Sabbam Hari's comments and the YSRC chief has never supported the Congress-led UPA government or colluded with it in this regard,' Rajamohan Reddy told newsmen here.
The MP, who was here to participate in the Maha Padayatra of his son Mekapati Goutham Kumar Reddy in Atmakur constituency, said that it was unfortunate that a senior politician like Sabbam Hari was making such baseless comments.
Asserting that Jagan Mohan Reddy was going to become the chief minister of a unified state soon as people of both Seemandhra and Telangana regions wanted it, he sought to know why the YSRC chief would encourage the state's bifurcation in such a scenario.
'This is unwanted and unwarranted propaganda of some political leaders who are not able to digest the charisma of Jagan Mohan Reddy. Even if they move heaven and earth to prevent Jagan Mohan Reddy from becoming the chief minister they will not succeed,' Rajamohan Reddy said.
The MP admitted that his party had earlier toyed with the idea of extending support to the Congress-led UPA if it formed the government at the Centre after the coming elections but had given up the idea in the wake of the UPA government's decision in favour of bifurcation.
Asked for his reactions over the reports that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was set to float a new political party soon, he said that anything could happen in politics as the ensuing elections had become a matter of life- and-death for the Congress and the TDP.
Party district convener Meriga Murali, leaders K Sridhar Reddy and P Anil Kumar Yadav were also present at the news confernce.
