Congress MPs to meet Sushma Swaraj VISAKHAPATNAM: Six Congress MPs who served no-confidence motion against the UPA government have decided to meet Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj and urge her not to support the Telangana bill as it was being moved for political gains to divide Telugu people, said Anakapalle MP Sabbam Hari. He felt that the bill was unlikely to be passed in the present Lok Sabha.
Speaking to mediapersons here Sunday, Hari welcomed the statements of BJP national president Rajnath Singh that they would not favour the Telangana bill without addressing the concerns of people in Seemandhra. He felt that as BJP wants to take credit for carving out the new state, it might not support the bill before the elections.
He pointed out that since BJP is the Opposition party in the Lok Sabha, backtracking from its earlier stand to extend unconditional support for the Telangana bill as another indication that the bill is unlikely to be passed in the lower House.
'Further, six MPs including me would be meeting Sushma Swaraj soon to request her not to support the Telangana bill at a time when the country is heading for elections,' he said.
He further added that as chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had also written to the President of India to extend the deadline for sending the views of all legislators, the possibilities for introducing and passing the bill in the Lok Sabha were remote.
Meanwhile, Hari continued his attack against YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and ridiculed the party leaders for launching a verbal attack against him. He claimed to have supported Jagan following the latter's request and had never asked for any ticket in the forthcoming elections.
