Upset Mothkupalli may join Congress HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Telangana leader Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, who is furious with party chief N Chandrababu Naidu for denying him Rajya Sabha nomination, is learnt to be planning to join Congress.
According to sources, panchayat raj minister K Jana Reddy is mediating and has almost convinced the TDP leader to join Congress. Sources said the Congress high command has also given the green signal for the entry of Mothkupalli.
Congress leaders feel Mothkupalli's entry would help the party as he is a Dalit leader having considerable influence in Nalgonda district.
Motkupalli is upset with TDP chief N Chandrababu for 'offering' him Rajya Sabha seat for over a year, only to deny it finally. He didn't attend the Assembly session on Tuesday.
He said that he did not see any reason why he should continue in the TDP. 'It would be better if I fell trees in jungles and sell firewood in the market for making a living rather than stay in the party,' he said.
Since Monday, TDP leaders have been trying to persuade him to take in his stride the decision of the party chief to field someone else in his place.
They wanted him not to take the drastic decision of leaving the party, but understand the compulsions Chandrababu Naidu had in finalising candidates.
As there are only two seats for TDP, it was difficult for Chandrababu Naidu to accommodate him, the leaders told Narasimhulu. TDP leaders Errabelli Dayakara Rao, LV Ramana, K Vijayarama Rao and U Abbayya tried to pacify Narasimhulu.
