Route cleared for Purandeswari Visakhapatnam: With the sitting Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy re-nominated by the Congress party, it is now clear that Visakhapatnam MP and Union Minister of State for Commerce D. Purandeswari will be fielded again for the Lok Sabha.
TSR, a loyalist, is known for his dedicated services to the Congress party for nearly three decades and particularly to Visakhapatnam which he has adopted during the period, including as the TTD chairman earlier.
The latest development is being viewed as a reward for his loyalty, particularly because, he had obliged the party to contest the Nellore LS seat where he lost to Mekapati.
This virtually leaves Purandeswari as an automatic choice as she has no rivals worth the name for the Vizag LS seat in the party.
Moreover, Purandeswari is held in esteem in the Congress circles as she had acquitted herself well as Visakhapatnam MP and also as Union Minister in turbulent times of Samaikyandhra agitation. The news of TSR's re-nomination is being celebrated by the Purandeswari camp.
