NRI mother kills teenage daughter before suicide bid
HYDERABAD: A 44-year-old Telugu woman killed her 17-year-old daughter in her bedroom with a revolver and later attempted suicide by shooting herself. The incident took place on Monday at Farmingham Court, Orlando in Florida, USA.
The deceased was identified as Chetana Guduru, a student of Seminole High School in Orlando, Florida. Her mother Sujatha Gudur is recuperating in a hospital.
According to sources, Sujatha sent an email to her brother, Prasad Chittaluru, and then shot her daughter and attempted suicide. Sujatha has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder for killing her daughter.
Oviedo police questioned Sujatha in the hospital, where it was revealed that she shot Chetana because she believed there would be no one to care for her after she killed herself. However, it is still unclear why Sujatha wanted to kill herself.
Police believe she had been planning the murder-suicide for quite some time. Sujatha had purchased .38-caliber revolver, found at the crime scene a couple of weeks ago.
