Kavuru slams Centre on T-issue Rajahmundry, Feb 9 (INN): Union Textiles Minister Kavuru Sambasiva Rao on Sunday stated that he was ready to resign from his post if that could stop the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons after participating in a private programme in Tanuku of West Godavari district, Kavuru said that although he was ready to resign, it would not serve any purpose. He said he would take a final decision his continuance in the Union Cabinet on the day of voting on State Reorganisation Bill in the Parliament. He said that his decision would depend on what Centre decides on Telangana issue.
Describing the proposed bifurcation of State as "undemocratic", Kavuru said that the Centre did not consider the report and recommendations of Srikrishna Committee which clearly stated that Telangana was more developed than Seemandhra region. He said that the Centre came under the pressure of Telagnana leaders who demanded division citing backwardness in the region.
He denied having any information on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy floating a new political party.
