Samaikya Run held across Seemandhra HYDERABAD: Expressing their resentment over the central government's decision to table Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in the ongoing session of Parliament, Samaikyandra protagonists took out 'Samaikya Run' in several important cities and towns in the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of the state.
Sporting green T-shirts with Samaikyandhra logo, hundreds of people from different walks of life enthusiastically part took in the run, raising Samaikyandra slogans.
Students, teachers, technocrats and workers all participated in the run to give voice to their anger over the way things pertaining to state bifurcation are progressing.
In Vijayawada, minister K Parthasarathy, APNGO president P Ashok Babu and MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, along with other prominent political and social organisations leaders had participated in the run.
Ashok Babu blamed the inefficiency of the Union ministers from the state as reason for the current predicament. He reiterated that there would be no political future for those who failed to stop the Telangana bill in Parliament. Around 5,000 people participated in the run organised in Vijayawada.
There was good participation in the run organised in Guntur, Prakasam, East Godavari districts. In Visakhapatnam, around 2,000 people from all sections of society enthusiastically participated in the 'Samaikya Run' which commenced at Ramakrishna Beach.
Raising slogans in support of Samaikyandhra, they ran the distance of two and a half kilometres from the beach to VUDA Park, looking like a green wave moving across the road.
The number of people could have been more had the programme not been delayed by 90 minutes. Several had left the venue when the run commenced. Unlike in Vijayawada, there were no political leaders present in the Visakhapatnam event.
Due to YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy's programme in Srikakulam district, the participation in the run was not to the extent expected there.
In Tirupati, Kadapa,, Chittoor, Anantapur and Nellore also thousands of people, wanting the state remain integrated and cutting across party lines, age and organisations participated in the Samaikya Run.
There was good response in Madanapalle and Chittoor districts also to the programme.
